The opening of the newly refurbished Nadarivatu District Office represents a significant step forward in rural development and service delivery for the people of Fiji’s northern highlands. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka officiated at the ceremony, highlighting the government’s commitment to ensuring that essential services are accessible to all citizens, regardless of their location. The $970,000 investment has transformed the district office into a modern hub, reducing the burden of long and costly travel for over 5,000 residents across 23 villages in five districts.
A key feature of the upgraded complex is the inclusion of an iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) office, which brings vital land services closer to iTaukei landowners. This integration reflects the importance of native land in Fiji’s development and ensures that landowners can access support and guidance without leaving their communities. The improvements extend beyond service delivery, with enhanced administrative facilities and staff quarters creating a better working environment for government officers, thereby strengthening the efficiency of public service.
Divisional Planning Officer West Elimi Rokoduru emphasized that the project’s cost of nearly $970,000 is an investment in the long-term resilience of rural communities.
