Prime Minister Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka today visited the six health officials who are receiving treatment at Twomey Hospital in Tamavua following the tragic maritime incident in the Lau waters last week. His visit was marked by compassion and encouragement, as he spent time with each of the recovering officials and offered words of support.
The Prime Minister assured the officials that they remain in the thoughts and prayers of the Government and the people of Fiji. He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to ensuring that the officials receive the necessary care and assistance throughout their recovery.
In his remarks, Rabuka expressed gratitude for their dedicated service, urging them to remain strong during this difficult time. He conveyed a heartfelt message in the iTaukei language: “Vinaka vakalevu na qaravi tavi ena yalo dina, dou vakaukauwa tiko, keimami sa veinanumi tiko mai vei kemudou ena masu mo dou bulabula vinaka.” Translated, this means: “Thank you very much for your dedicated and selfless service. Stay strong. You are in our thoughts and prayers, and we pray for your full recovery.”
The Prime Minister’s visit not only provided comfort to the officials but also underscored the Government’s broader commitment to supporting frontline workers and recognizing their sacrifices. His presence at Twomey Hospital highlighted the importance of solidarity, compassion, and national unity in times of adversity.
