Lakeba Island, Fiji – Major road infrastructure works have commenced on Lakeba Island, bringing improved access, safety, and essential services to over 1,500 residents. The upgrades are part of a broader commitment by the Coalition Government to strengthen rural development and leave no Fijian behind.

The project encompasses comprehensive improvements across key routes, including Lakeba Circular Road, Lakeba Airstrip Road, and vital village access roads to Tubou, Nasaqalau, Vakano, Yadrana, Nukunuku, Waitabu, Waciwaci, Levuka, and prominent local institutions.

Scope of work includes grading, gravelling, drainage enhancements, concrete repairs, coastal protection measures, and the restoration of critical causeways—ensuring year-round resilience and reliable connectivity for island communities.

The Coalition Government is investing in better roads to connect communities, improve quality of life, and expand economic opportunities for all Fijians.

These roadworks mark a significant step forward in delivering sustainable, inclusive development and are expected to be completed in phases over the coming months.
