The Coalition Government today reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive development and environmental stewardship with the official handover of a 23-foot fiberglass boat and a 40-horsepower outboard engine to the people of Nadoria Village, Dreketi, Rewa.

Hon. Ro Filipe Tuisawau, Minister for Public Works, Meteorological Services & Transport, officiated the ceremony, highlighting the importance of empowering rural communities with resources that strengthen both livelihoods and environmental protection.

The project, valued at $17,600, was funded through the Office of the Prime Minister’s Development Grant. It fulfills a pledge made by the Hon. Prime Minister during the opening of housing projects in Nadoria last year. The boat will be used to monitor and protect mangrove areas from illegal and unsustainable harvesting, while also supporting fishing activities to enhance food security and income generation.

Minister Tuisawau emphasized that this initiative reflects the Coalition Government’s vision of “leaving no one behind” and aligns with the National Development Plan priorities on infrastructure, environment, and climate resilience. He encouraged the community to safeguard the asset and continue working together for sustainable development.

This handover marks another step in advancing Fiji’s national agenda of resilience, sustainability, and inclusive growth, ensuring that communities like Nadoria are equipped to protect their ecosystems while building stronger futures.
