Prime Minister Hon. Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka has called for an update on the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) investigation into the unfinished Fiji National University (FNU) Naiyaca Campus project, where approximately $12 million was spent on a structure that remains incomplete and unusable.

The Prime Minister expressed concern over the alleged misuse of funds during the project’s construction and emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in public spending. The campus, now renamed the Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere Labasa Campus, has been under scrutiny following audit findings that revealed tender irregularities, governance lapses, and contract management issues.

“The public deserves clarity on how such a significant investment resulted in an unfinished facility. We must ensure that accountability mechanisms are upheld and that lessons are learned to prevent similar occurrences in future projects,” said Prime Minister Rabuka.

The Government remains committed to upholding integrity in all development initiatives and ensuring that public resources are managed responsibly for the benefit of the Fijian people.
